Methane Container
Guy and Wright are producers of tomatoes with a difference. They have arranged to obtain massive quantities of fruit and vegetables that are discarded by supermarkets and put them in an anaerobic digester where bacteria turn them into methane gas. Cameron Fabric engineering made a special gas-tight container to hold the gas before it is used to drive micro-turbines for electricity and burned to provide heating for the greenhouses. Even the waste carbon dioxide is used, because the tomatoes grow better when there is more carbon dioxide in the atmosphere inside the greenhouses. (www.guyandwright.com)
