Royal Opera House diaphragm
A cover was designed to protect the newly refurbished ceiling of the Royal Opera House so that dusty work could continue below for the rest of the refurbishment. For this second phase, the scaffolding used for the ceiling work had to be removed, so the cover had to be designed with a remote release mechanism to avoid the cost of erecting more scaffolding to remove it.
Installation of the 120 kg. cover at a height of 38 m. above the floor of the Opera House was a challenging task, but it was successfully achieved over a long weekend.
